Foals & Horses

Silver Maple’s Foals & Horses

In addition to our lovable puppies, we also breed a number of horses. These include Haflingers, Friesians, Dutch Harness horses, Standard-Bred, Belgians and Hackney horses. We enjoy breeding and working with these types of horses for their aptitude as pleasure horses, performance horses, and harness horses.

Currently we have for sale Haflingers, Friesan crosses, Standardbreds, Draft horses and ponies.

Our horses are at different stages of their training according to their ages and how long they have been with us. We train for a variety of disciplines including Pleasure, driving and riding, trail riding, basic dressage, single and double harness driving, and the heavier work such as manure spreading or mowing and baling our supply of hay and keeping our pastures clipped.

All our trained horses have been drove and ridden on the state road (we live right beside it). They are exposed to anything from bicycles to large semis. They drive to town, stand at crossroads and stoplights, and tie at hitching rails. Trail riding experience includes up and down hills and crossing creeks and ravines.

We welcome any questions, comments and inquiries you have. To speak with us personally regarding our horses call 330-231-7914 and leave a message with your phone number and a good time to reach you. This is only a landline and we rarely answer. However, we will return your call as promptly as possible.

We welcome visitors to see and try our horses under our supervision.

We operate with the firm belief that honesty is the best policy.

Axel of Silver Maple

Affirmative Action CEH (Axel) is a 3 year old registered Haflinger gelding. Axel was born and raised on our farm and he has been a pleasure to have around for the last 3 years.

Axel is well trained to ride and will walk, trot, and canter on a circle, picking up either lead. He is soft in his mouth and will respond to leg pressure. He backs up, side passes, and yields forequarters and hindquarters. Axel has a nice slow jog, and will also speed up and lengthen his trot if asked. Ride him English, Western, bareback, or double, Axel does not mind. Axel is great on trails, crosses creeks and logs, and will walk up and down steep hills.

Axel is also trained to drive in a cart or 4 wheeled buggy, and he will stand to harness and hitch. Axel has been ridden and driven on the road and through town, and he does not mind loud 18 wheelers, trucks, cars or bikes.

Loading and trailering is no problem, this guy will hop up on the trailer whether he is the only horse or not. He is easy to handle and has great barn manners.

Axel stands around 14.3 hands and is currently living in northeastern Ohio.

We love to talk horses! Feel free to call or text Lonnie at 330-440-8151 for more info.

We have entered Axel into The Heart of America Haflinger Sale that will be held on November 16th in Cloverdale, Indiana.

He is not available for presale out of our barn, however should you not be able to attend the sale they do have phone or online bidding available. We welcome you to our farm before the event to meet and try Axel.

Rhonda of Silver Maple

Introducing one of our entries into the Dixie Horse Auction. This will be held November 29-30 2024. Call or text Dennis at 330-432-8144 if you would like to come see this beautiful mare before the Auction. Feel free to contact us if you have questions, we love to talk horses.

Rhonda is a 6 year old registered 3/4 Friesian mare.

She is kid broke to ride and has been ridden by all levels of riders. She is very quiet and gentle, but has enough spark and buttons to be fun for advanced riders.

Rhonda has a nice smooth walk-trot-canter and will pick up either lead and do walk to canter transitions. She has some dressage training and is doing shoulder ins and leg yields. She has been on lots of trails and crosses creeks, logs and walks up and down hills. Rhonda rides nicely alone and with other horses. Loads and trailers easily and stands to be saddled, bridled, brushed and bathed. She is used to being around cattle, dogs, cats, and sheep. She is easy to catch in the field and gets along well with other horses.

Rhonda is also well trained to drive, and stands to harness and hitch.

She stands 15.3 hands high and currently lives in northeastern Ohio.

Our facebook page has many videos of our horses and farm.
